Le chant de la mine (“The coal mine song”), an oratorio composed by Eugène Bozza (Prix de Rome), former director of the Conservatory of Valenciennes, is a popular and local music piece dedicated to the miners’ glory (also called “black mouths”). The Valentiana orchestra and Eugène Bozza’s wind octet, a choir of 200 singers from Valenciennes, 4 solists and one narrator will resuscitate this masterpiece which has not been played since its composition back in 1956.
